I'll try this. When I proposed to my wife in college I threw a ceramic container in a class to hold the ring. Then I set up a scavenger hunt in her house that she had to go on to find a surprise. When she finally found the ring (in her nightstand drawer, it has been there a week) I got on my knee and asked her to marry me. Even after 19 years, four kids and all the craziness that goes with it – it was the best thing I've ever done.

This birthday present that I made for my husband last year was not only romantic, but so original and special that it brought both tears of joy and nostalgia to his eyes. I contacted family members and friends and asked them to please make a short video for my husband wishing him a happy birthday. It was so funny because all the videos were so different from one another, different anecdotes and memories about him... after I added all the videos together, my husband enjoyed washing his co-workers (which I chased all around the elementary school where my husband works) and their in-side jokes, but more importantly was washing family members, high school and college friends that he haven't seen in more than 10 years because we moved to Houston (we're from Venezuela), and I could even get a couple of videos from our good friends from Spain and Copenhagen... at the end my husband said "WOW... How could you get in touch with so many old friends?!... It is so amazing that all of them took a little of their time to do this for me!!!!"

I think the most romantic thing I've done, at least so far, is to plan a surprise wedding in Scotland. I had to have the wedding sanctioned by the Highland Council and get a marriage visa from the British government to make it legal. I arranged a Celtic Handfasting ceremony at the ruins of a 13th century castle on Loch Ness. We were led into the castle by a Piper and enjoyed songs by a Celtic singer. Given his love of vintage cars, I also arranged for a 1947 Rover to pick us up at the hotel to drive us to the castle. Once we arrived in Inverness, a cute little Scottish lass convinced him to wear a kilt which made the whole thing complete. It may not have been his first wedding, but it was the most memorable.

Got this contest entry from Anna on our Facebook Wall: I drove 18 hours through ice to see my fiancee after he was in a car accident and I cooked him his favorite dinner even though I was exhausted. For two weeks I waited on him but it was a pleásure becáuse I truly loved him.

I made a 6 course meal for my wife and 8 other friends paired with different wines and cheeses from around the world. I got her her favorite flowers and a heart shaped pin with the words inscribed Always and Forever. Every month I cook a big meal for her and we watch movies with the kiddos. Very happy to be spending my life with my best friend.

For our 25th wedding anniversary, I had the wet bar under our stairs upgraded to accomodate a 27 bottle wine chiller frig, a built-in wall cabinet and a stemware rack, then followed up the next year with a three compartment Sky-bar so he could have all of his favorite wines ready whenever he wanted.
